Why Get Involved?
“Spiritual friendship is eagerly helping one another know, serve, love, and resemble God in deeper and deeper ways.”- Timothy Keller
As a community, we are constantly striving to discover and express our connection to one another as members of the body of Christ. To that end, we believe that it is very important to realize the opportunities that God gives us to serve one another, while refraining from activity for the sake of busy-ness. We don’t believe that God will be impressed with us for meeting a bunch of ministry obligations that allow us to check off boxes every week.
However, we do think that our Lord & Savior is well pleased when we seek to bring Him glory through heartfelt, faithful expressions of the gospel towards one another as well as the sojourners around us who might be far away from Him. This means that we are constantly experimenting with a precarious balance between a restful margin and an outpouring of our lives into the city we love.
That said, we offer several different opportunities to serve in various contexts, while we look for ways in which to support the heart cries of individuals within our covenant community. We do not expect anyone to do anything, or everyone to do everything. We do know, however, that once we are captivated by The Savior and the gospel, we will yearn for ways to express His love to others.
Here are some of the primary ways in which our community chooses
to love and serve our city:
